Abstract: “A United Nations human rights treaty that could prohibit children from being spanked or homeschooled, ban youngsters from facing the death penalty and forbid parents from deciding their families’ religion is on America’s doorstep, a legal expert warns.”

Well as someone who has been quite involved in measuring the effects of UNESCO upon education, it was inevitable that the UN would move further into its notion that it can social engineer not just education, but the families and individuals involved in the educational process.

The issues for UNESCO in regard to American (USA) education are countless.  From the elimination of Music and Arts specialists, to the elimination of the requirement of teaching degrees (rather all people need are “certifications”) would have a detrimental effect upon US education.  Unfortunately, President Obama’s affinity for all things UN is documented and this is evident in his Global Anti-Poverty Bill; which effectively places the entire world on US welfare (taxpayers beware!).  As for education not only do the acts of UNESCO cause alarm for educators, but the CRC act of the UN should really send shivers up the spine.

The danger in the CRC are not its “good intentions”, rather it is the removal and blending of the private sphere of existence into the public sphere.  For those philosophers out there, this is in opposition to Arendt’s notion that the public would whither away and become the private… well actually it’s the same.  In effect, all things private become public and the public is now a blended forum of private issues.  The family in this new world is no longer a haven of private affairs.  In stark contrast, everything about the family, raising of children, education, etc., are now not only the public’s concern, but they are the public’s right to determine.  In fact, it isn’t just the public, it becomes the “government’s” right to determine all things about your family and your decisions.

Thus, rather than progressing from Servitude through Feudalism, to Servitude under Government, to Freedom in Liberty through a Republic (or Democracy).  The world, and America for that matter, has gone from the progression to personal liberty and retreated, often rapidly, back to Servitude under Government.  If history is any lesson, we will not just be indentured to our government (e.g. social welfare and compulsory taxation), but soon our very behaviors will be governed by government and therefore, we are now walking backwards to full-blown indentured servitude.  Students of history beware, the 20th century taught us the lessons of what happens when any government takes this role (e.g. Communism, Khmer Rouge, Nazism, etc.), and whether it comes in the guise of a dictator, or under the “rule en masse” the results are the same.

In regards to education, the best and greatest solution to human progress and freedom, is complete control of education by the consumers of education.  The ability to focus where you delight, the capacity to find both the best service at the best price.  And, a system whereby you can advance yourself in freedom and not be forced into mass conformity.  That is the large mission of Fourth Logic.  We are all about controlling your own education, choice, and the advancement of humanity on its own terms.
